MNG 140: Management Theory I

Management theory applies to endeavors of all sizes, durations and purposes, including public, private, not-for-profit and philanthropic organizations, and in accountabilities designed to reach specific, varied and diverse goals and purposes.

This course is intended to acquaint the student with fundamental management theory in the scope of service to organizations and to society, as well as essentials for the manager as an individual in pursuit of managerial effectiveness. In fulfilment of the assignments that will provide fundamentals in management theory, this course is designed to incorporate the student’s own experience and observations in management.

The general purpose of this course is to develop knowledge and skills to apply to the leadership and management of organizations. At the end of this course, students will be able to compare and contrast the varying organizational theories, and assess how to implement these theories, as needed, within their chosen field.
