The aim of this course is to gain a working understanding of fundamental theories of group therapy and its practice. GRD 1209 and its predecessor, GRD 1208, will provide you with both a theoretical understanding of various approaches to group therapy and a practical skill set to apply in the field. Research has shown that group work is particularly effective in helping client’s process grief and facilitating recovery.
