BSTU offers Ethereal Programs in Business and Grief only. Old programs have been discontinued. Our educational programs prepare students for religious vocations as ministers, professionals, or laypersons in the categories of ministry, counseling, theology, education, administration, music, fine arts, media communications, or social work.

The online curriculum offers an innovative approach to higher education. Enrollment is open and students may begin the program at any time. All courses are provided in online classrooms, with one-to-one faculty mentoring. MPS 500: Introduction to Positive Psychology 1

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to the first course in Breyer State Theological University’s
Master’s program in Positive Psychology. This and Part 2 of this course will introduce you to
well-being, motivation, mindfulness, peak performance, health, and others as part of the Positive
Psychology model.

MPS 525: Introduction to Positive Psychology 2

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to the first course in Breyer State Theological University’s
Master’s program in Positive Psychology. This and Part 1 of this course will introduce you to
aesthetics, creativity, well-being across the lifespan, spirituality and well-being, and other
aspects of the Positive Psychology model.

MPS 550: Ethics in Counseling and Psychotherapy

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to the Ethics in Counseling and Psychotherapy course. It is
part of Breyer State University’s Master’s program in Positive Psychology. For some of you, this
may be a refresher course; for others, it may be a more in-depth study of ethics as it applies to
your practice. The book is in its 6 edition and offers perhaps the most current thinking on
ethics.

MPS 575: Treatment Planning

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to MPS 575: Treatment Planning
This course is part of the Accelerated Doctorate in the Positive Psychology program at Breyer State
Theological University. It is a 6-hour semester course that should be completed in 6 weeks. It aims to
provide you with a background in identifying presenting problems and developing goals, objectives, and
other aspects to assist clients in making progress in therapy while enhancing the therapeutic alliance.

MPS 600: Motivational Interviewing

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Master’s in Positive Psychology
program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a six-hour semester course that should be
completed within six weeks. Motivational interviewing is a way of being for the counselor, a
strategy of questioning, and a stance the counselor takes that helps evoke information and
responses from clients and helps design intervention strategies that best assist the client. It
redefines client resistance in a way that fosters rapport with the client to help them achieve
their goals and improve their lives.

MPS 625: Change, Thriving and Resilience

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Master’s in Positive Psychology program
at Breyer State Theological University. It is a 6-hour semester course that should be completed in 6
weeks. It aims to provide you with a foundation in identifying presenting problems and developing goals,
objectives, and other aspects to support clients in making progress in therapy while strengthening the
therapeutic alliance.

MPS 650: Positive Psychology Interventions

COURSE OBJECTIVE: This course is part of the Accelerated Master’s in Positive Psychology
program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a six-hour semester course that should be
completed in six weeks. It explores techniques, strategies, assignments, homework, etc., that
can be used to help clients along their life path.

MPS 675: HUMAN FLOURISHING AND WELL-BEING

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Welcome to the course Human Flourishing and Well-Being. It is part
of the Masters of Positive Psychology program at Breyer State Theological University for the
Degree. I am pleased to facilitate your experience as you learn and gain more expertise in this
area of study.

MPS 700 Positive Psychology Evaluation & Assessment

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Welcome to a Positive Psychology Evaluation & Assessment, a Masters
Level course in the Positive Psychology program. This course provides you with the opportunity
to complete several inventories covering a number of positive psychology topics.

MPS 725: Self Care

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Masters in Positive Psychology
program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a 6-hour semester course that should be
completed within 6 weeks. Counseling, at best, is a stressful job. Learning to monitor, manage,
and maneuver through that stress helps keep the counselor healthy, care for themselves, and
better support their clients.

MPS 750 - Master’s Thesis—Positive Psychology

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to MPS 750 – Master’s Thesis in Positive Psychology. This
syllabus describes the expectations for the Accelerated Master’s and Doctoral programs at Breyer
State University. It is an 8-hour semester course that should be completed within 12 weeks.

Online Degree Programs

  1. You must first make an application for the degree program. Once your application is received, you will receive via e-mail a “Welcome Letter” with full instructions for registering for a course or courses and entering an online degree or certificate program. Your welcome letter will provide full information regarding any needed submissions of transcripts, etc.
  2. You may now register for the first course in your curriculum. Please refer to your degree curriculum for your first course and click on the link to the degree program you are officially enrolling in. Be sure to type in the course and course number that you are registering for into the registration form.
  3. You may now make a payment for your course. We offer a secure online credit card server and accept all major credit cards.
  4. There is no charge and no obligation when completing and submitting an application.

Once we have received a tuition payment, your enrollment will be immediately processed. You will receive from us an E-mail titled ” New Student Notification” detailing your course or program, your instructor, instructor contact information, and full instructions for accessing your online classroom. You may begin your course or degree program immediately. We have open enrollment and you may start at any time.
