Our educational programs prepare students for religious vocations as ministers, professionals, or laypersons in the categories of ministry, counseling, theology, education, administration, music, fine arts, media communications, or social work.

POS 800 Introduction to Positive Psychology I

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to the first course in Breyer State Theological
University’s doctoral program in Positive Psychology. This course and Part 2 of this
course will introduce you to well-being, motivation, mindfulness, peak performance,
health, and others as part of the Positive Psychology model.

POS 825 Introduction to Positive Psychology II

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to the first course in Breyer State Theological University’s
doctoral program in Positive Psychology. This course and Part 1 of this course will introduce you
to aesthetics, creativity, well-being across the life span, spirituality and well-being, and so on as
part of the Positive Psychology model.

POS 850 Ethics in Counseling

Welcome to the Ethics in Counseling and Psychotherapy course. It is part of
Breyer State University’s doctoral and master’s programs in Positive Psychology.

For some of you, this may be a refresher course; for others, it may be a more in-
depth study of ethics as it applies to your practice. The book is in its 6 edition and

offers perhaps the most current thinking on ethics.

POS 875 Psychology of Human Strength

Welcome to Psychology of Human Strength, a course in the curriculum for the
Doctorate Program of Positive Psychology. I am pleased to facilitate your
completion of this course.
This course continues to emphasize topics such as intelligence, judgment,
perspective, volition, and resilience as they apply to developing and maintaining
mental health. I know that learning as much as possible about this topic will serve
you well as you contemplate providing counseling services to future clients.

POS 900 Motivational Interviewing

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Doctoral in Positive
Psychology program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a six-hour semester
course that should be completed within six weeks. Motivational interviewing is a way of
being for the counselor, a strategy of questioning, and a stance the counselor takes that
helps evoke the information and response from clients and helps design intervention
strategies that best help the client. It redefines client resistance in a way that develops
rapport with the client to achieve their goals and improve their lives.

POS 925 Positive Psychology Across the Life Span

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Doctoral in Positive Psychology program at
Breyer State Theological University. It is a six-hour semester course that should be completed within
six weeks. People’s needs and responses to their experiences change throughout their lives. Positive
Psychology Across the Lifespan examines how positive psychology concepts, theories, and techniques
apply as people age.

POS 950 Character Development

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Doctoral in Positive
Psychology program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a six-hour semester
course that should be completed within six weeks. Mindfulness is a key principle of positive
psychology and is carefully studied in this course.

POS 975 Resilience and Wellness

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Doctoral in Positive
Psychology program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a six-hour semester
course that should be completed within six weeks. Character traits are significant
factors contributing to individual and community well-being and flourishing. This course
explores the assessment and interventions of those traits helping oneself and client to
live a better life.

POS 1000 Mindfulness and Behavior

WELCOME to Resilience & Wellness; a course in the curriculum for the Doctorate
Program of Positive Psychology. I am pleased to facilitate your completion of the
course.
This course emphasizes resilience’s role in mental health, human flourishing, and
wellness. The course textbooks, videos, suggested books, and workbooks combine
to provide a package of information and tools you can confidently use in your
practice.

POS 1025 Self-Care

COURSE OVERVIEW: This course is part of the Accelerated Doctoral in Positive
Psychology program at Breyer State Theological University. It is a 6-hour
semester course that should be completed within 6 weeks. Counseling, at best, is a
stressful job. Learning to monitor, manage, and maneuver through that stress
helps keep the counselor healthy, care for themselves, and better help their
clients.

POS 1050 Doctorate Thesis

Online Degree Programs

  1. You must first make an application for the degree program. Once your application is received, you will receive via e-mail a “Welcome Letter” with full instructions for registering for a course or courses and entering an online degree or certificate program. Your welcome letter will provide full information regarding any needed submissions of transcripts, etc.

  4. There is no charge and no obligation when completing and submitting an application.

Once we have received a tuition payment, your enrollment will be immediately processed.
