Case Management
Online Degree Program
Our online distance education program offers students the
opportunity to study a comprehensive curriculum in the masters
in case management degree program and receive
their graduate degree in this specialty. Prerequisites for this degree program are: an earned undergraduate degree in nursing, social services, or closely related health care field, or an earned undergraduate degree and at least one year practice experience in case management.
Qualified Case Managers are in very high demand in the health care services industry today. Many registered nurses practice today as nurse case managers, and, social workers are practicing case management, as well as behavioral specialist. Ancillary, licensed health care workers are also taking on roles of case manager in many ancillary service settings, such as physical therapy, gerontology, diabetic education, occupational therapy, respiratory care, and more. The health care insurance industry is also seeking highly qualified case managers to work with their client/providers to enhance quality and cost-effectiveness of care delivery. Case managers are also employed and in demand in the home-care and out-patient care settings.
All of the courses are focused in case management education. Students will study, at the graduate level, the theories and processes of case management; issues/programs in case management practice, managed health care, utilization review, reimbursement systems, ambulatory case management systems, and a final degree project. This curriculum also provides the opportunity for a clinical practicum course, where students work with their instructor to design a meaningful, and education oriented practice experience in the process of case management services and in the role of the case manager. The final course in the curriculum is an independent study symposium in which students work with their instructor and design a full learning-contract that is focused on a particular specialty or research related topic in case management. Once you finish your last course you will receive your case management degree. Completion of three of the courses in the curriculum qualifies graduates to apply for Case Management Fellowship through the American Academy of Case Management.
