GRD 1110 – Group Support for Bereavement and Loss

COURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to GRD 1110: Group support for Bereavement and Loss. This course is part of the Accelerated Doctoral in Counseling program at Breyer State University. It is a 6 hour semester course that must be completed within 6 weeks. The aim of this course is provide students with a working understanding of how to design and facilitate a counseling support group for bereavement and loss. Course topics will include understanding the therapeutic advantages of support groups, how to set up/organize a support group for bereavement, qualities of an effective group facilitator, handling common issues/problems within a counseling support group, and self-care for the counselor.
