CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Our online distance education program offers students the opportunity to study a comprehensive curriculum in the Doctorate in Criminal Justice degree program. The specialty field of criminal justice continues to become more sophisticated as newer technologies drive a transformation of the profession. Highly qualified criminal justice professionals are needed today to provide leadership, management, consultation, research, and education. This program prepares criminal justice professionals to assume advanced positions in many possible specialties of the profession.
All of the courses are focused on the major. This allows students to maximize their learning in the core courses and succeed in their educational and career goals.
Students begin with the study of theories of crime, criminal justice ethics, public policy, and research methods. Specific courses focus on either criminology or administration of justice. In the higher division courses students enter symposium and project courses where they are able to focus more in one area of Criminal Justice, and a dissertation at the end of their program. These specialty courses allow students maximum opportunities to experience the real world. Several career fields this criminal justice degree will prepare you for are:

The prerequisites for this program are: an earned juris doctorate or master degree in criminal justice, or a closely related field.
The online curriculum offers an innovative approach to higher education. Enrollment is open and students may begin the program at any time. All courses are provided in online classrooms, with on-to-one faculty mentoring. Students also have free access to our comprehensive Study Tactics and Resources Center, with links to subject related websites, online libraries, articles and research assistance. The above seven (7) core courses are required for all students
in the degree program. Upon successful completion of the first four
core courses, students will select one of the following two (2)
specialty tracks. After completion of the selected specialty track,
the student will finish the remaining three dissertation courses.

Course Completion Times: Students are permitted 10 weeks to complete an online course. This may
be extended with the permission of the instructor. For all Symposium Courses, students are
permitted up to a six month period for completion. Doctoral students are permitted one year for
all Dissertation/Doctoral Project courses.
Certificate Option: students
have the option of first enrolling into and completing a Post-Graduate Certificate in this degree program. All courses in the graduate
certificate program will transfer in to the Doctorate Degree Program.
Following graduation with the Post-Graduate Certificate, students may
then elect to enroll in the Doctorate degree program and complete

Up to fifty percent of the degree may be
earned by transfer credits from other schools and/or application
for the award of experiential learning credits. A combination of
transfer credits and experiential learning credits may be applied.
